Match Report
A professional performance from Villa against a Hemmington team that had played only a few games this season and were clearly light on match sharpness. With the returning Tommo waiting patiently on the bench and the prolific Skinner starting up front alongside Hitman Hallam, Villa were always going to score goals. The question was whether we would be able to keep them out at the other end with 3 key defenders in Wol, Steve and Dr Blood missing from the side. There was little to fear though with Tony dropping into the back line alongside statistically Kinoulton's best player - John Ponytail. This game proved to be the 12th game out of 14 that John has played in that Villa have emerged as victors and also the 5th clean sheet in which he has appeared!
Sadly, events since the match have interfered with the match reporter's memory so full details of what happened during the game are a little sketchy. What has been noted is that the goals were spread evenly throughout the game with Paul Hallam opening the scoring after around 10 minutes. Skinner added a further 2 before half time and Jeff made a couple of decent saves.
Despite being 3-0 up at half time, there were some concerns that Hemmington were offering a threat by way of an extra man in midfield. So with Simon sitting slightly deeper in the second half and the introduction of Tommo up front Villa were able to secure the victory with relatvie ease. Skinner added another 2 and Tommo scored on his return to make the final score 6-0. As always, Mark terrorised the left back with some great runs down the right and it was great to see Deano back to his best with some lovely touches and passing play that would have surely secured him man of the match had Skinner not bagged 4.
Thanks again to Wol for refereeing especially given a lot of moaning from both sides!
